What are SIPs homes?

A SIPs, or structured insulated panel, consists of two skins of oriented strand board (OSB) sandwiching an insulating foam core. Made using timber from sustainable sources, we cut these panels to size for each bespoke project.

Strong and versatile, SIPs can be used not just as walls and floors but as sloping wood panels. This means we can use them to create any style, size, or shape of building. Think of them as life-sized Lego blocks!

With a variety of cladding choices, from render to timber and brick, SIPs panels are the completely customisable option.

What are Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)?

A SIP is a panel made of oriented strand board (OSB) covering a foam insulation core. These panels are used in construction to create walls, roofs, and floors for new and renovated properties.

What are the advantages of a SIPs home?

What are the advantages of a SIPs home?

There are many benefits to using SIPs panels in your new build home, including:

  • Well-insulated, leading to an energy-efficient home that keeps the heat in
  • Prefabricated off-site, meaning they can be easily cut to size and assembled on-site
  • Airtight and reduced gaps, meaning better indoor air quality and fewer draughts
  • Fast to install and don’t need additional support like timber frames
  • High structural strength, making them suitable for a wide range of uses
  • Eco-friendly materials and minimal waste helping to create a sustainable home
  • Fully customisable, come in a wide range of sizes and can be finished in multiple ways
What is the lifespan of a SIPs house?

If SIPs panels are well-installed and well-looked after, they can last a lifetime. We’ll work with you to build your SIPs home with longevity in mind.

How much does it cost to fully build a SIPs house?

It depends on the size of the project and the work that is needed. While SIPs panels are more expensive than the equivalent in masonry, SIPs panels are faster to erect, more customisable, and insulation is ready built into the panels.
